Bluetooth PDA

Did you realize that with a Bluetooth enabled PDA you actually can surf the Net and handle your email? Bluetooth is a wireless technology that is changing the face of personal communications. Imagine setting up a personal area network to string together up to 7 different devices. And since bluetooth uses a wireless radio to transmit your data in the same 2.4 GHz WiFi spectrum, both bluetooth and WiFi devices running in the same room or office won't interfere with each other.

Your bluetooth PDA can work with your bluetooth enable cell phone and use it like a wireless modem to surf the Internet. There are some folks who have managed to get their PDA working with Vonage Voice Over IP (VOIP) and to use it like a real phone!

Your bluetooth PDA can connect to your home computer using a feature of Windows called a pass-through Internet connection or direct to a bluetooth modem to also utilize your internet access. A number of Bluetooth hotspots are also springing up and you can now easily connect to your companies Intranet. Bluetooth speeds ratings, however, are somewhat less than 1 MB while your WiFi can be 11 MB. But the trade off for the lack of cables and the ability to connect to a number of devices PLUS still being able to use your WiFi devices in the same vicinity are well worth the trade off. And you get a lot less power consumption with the Bluetooth PDA connectivity.

You can also find a bluetooth keyboard that is the size of a credit card that you can connect to your bluetooth PDA to make it easier to type in your data or information. And despite the small size it does work very well and thus makes your handheld PDA a much more powerful device by supplying a method of faster input. Slip it in your pocket to use whenever necessary for great mobility.

Security of the Bluetooth PDA is quite good with authentication and 128-bit encryption and you can have your applications add security levels over top of that to increase security to even more desirable levels.

And how about turning your Bluetooth PDA into a GPS system without the need for a CompactFlash slot or cabling to make the connection. BT technology does that and that also leaves the CompactFlash slot free to import more mapping data to give you right down to street level navigation.
